Bored with cooking Ham on Easter?
Bored with cooking Ham on Easter?
So, for the first time in years , I am in charge of cooking the Easter Dinner. I was so excited and was wiling to step up to the challenge. As, I started planning out my meal, I realized I wanted to do a few thing different this year. I had a Ham for Easter over twenty years. I can’t lie I’m a little sick of it. So today, I am going to share some meal ideas for Easter to switch it up, and keep your meal exciting. I will also share some ideas for our Plain Janes who prefers more of a vegetarian Easter.
First for the Meat Eaters:
Consider cooking Lamb this year. It’s fairly inexpensive, and many ways to prepare lamb. My personal favorite is wrapping Rosemary around the lamb and broiling it in the oven. Also, there is multiple recipes online for Lamb the can catch your fancy.
Also, you could baked a Lasagna. Many people have chosen Lasagna to cook for the Holidays, because it’s Easy and fun! Also, You can feed many people and spending next to nothing . Plus let’s admit it,everyone loves a great Lasagna.
Lastly , I want to suggest is a Corn Beef. I personally decided to cook a corn beef this year, because my family loves corn beef. Corn beef in an inexpensive meat that is pack full of flavor. You can throw it in the oven or cook it low in a crock pot. Plus, it fits perfectly with your traditional Easter Sides.
As for our Vegetarian friends:
A “One Pot Stew,” is a great idea for a main course. You can slow cook all you favorite veggies, making it into a delicious stew. I fits well with serving it with all your favorite sides. My friend’s favorite stew is made with: squash, mushrooms, egg plant, onions, green peppers, and potatoes. She slowly cooks it and serves it with a side of asparagus.
Also, a great idea is a vegetarian lasagna. You have a lot of choices on how you want to make your vegetarian lasagna. You can Google many recipes online. Or, you can get creative and let your imagination run wild. It’s really what your taste buds want and crave.
Finally, getting creative with tofu. Tofu really adapts to any seasoning you cook with it. You can fry it up. You can bake it with seasoning. As I have said many times before, You can Google recipes that will fit your style. Tofu may seem weird at first, but I promise if you learn how to cook with tofu, you would be surprise how many doors it can open up with your cooking =).
There is a quantity of things you can do to make this Easter a little different. Make your Easter fit your family taste buds, and giving you a rest from the normal tradition. From WordsforthePlainJanes.com I hope you find something that will adapt to you, and make this Easter a year to remember.

Decorating for Easter, For the first time on a tight budget.
Decorating for Easter, For the first time on a tight budget.
So Easter.is coming up, and I decided to get into the spirit this year. I didn’t want to go too crazy on Easter this year. But, I wanted to be excited. So I went to Walmart, and decided my budget was about 10 to 20 dollars. I walked up to the Easter display and I saw the cutest Easter wreath . I looked at the price and they wanted $ 25. Now I had already fallen in love with the idea of hanging a wreath on my front door. So I wonder how hard would it be to make one.
I went to the craft section in Walmart and decided to to view my options. I found a wooded wreath for $ 3.95. Then I picked up some bright pink ribbon for 2.77. I decided to go back to the Easter display for things to hang one the wreath. I found these cute butterflies and bunnies for $ 1.50 each. Then for the words that spelled ,”Easter.” For 94¢. I felt that was enough materials for my wreath.
But, since I had some money left over in my budget, I decided to pick up some cute window stickers for 94¢ each. I decided to pick up three. I also found a cute table clothe and an egg center piece for $1.50 each. I had spent a total of $13.61. I felt that I had enough decorations So I didn’t feel the to spend any more
Now, I will tell you how to make the Wreath. How I did it was, I tied the pink ribbon around the the wreath once. To have a starting point. Then I just wrapped the ribbon around the wreath until I felt the pink was enough I then again tied the rest and hot glue the ribbon at the end point.
Then I aligned my decorations around the the wreath.until I got the desired design. One a, side note when I bought the butterflies and the bunnies, I didn’t know they stuck together. So I solve this by simply cutting the apart with scissors Then I took a hot glue gun and glued the decorations on to the wreath. I finish by taking ribbon and tying to the wreath for hanging.
My Wreath Finished

I made the center piece with the left over supplies from the wreath. I took an old candle holder I had and lay the bunnies and rabbits around the plate. The I simply place the egg in the center around the Bunnies and butterflies. That’s how easy it was!
My Table clothe, and my center piece.

My Center piece up close!
